What is Myofascial Magic In Action?

MMIA is a supported, online, self-paced program including 1-2-1 and group coaching in adding Myofascial Magic to your existing training repertoire.

How is Myofascial Magic going to change my focus?

MMIA gives you the tools to transform a posture-focused repertoire into a person-focussed repertoire by animating the myofascial details of the fascia matrix to

Is Myofascial Magic in Action scientifically supported?

The foundations of Fascia Research and continued education form the basis of the work and experience of the tutors and clinical guidance upon which this course is designed. We regularly attend advanced trainings to ensure the work we do grows with those we teach and the latest scientific research into movement. We also consult a specialist team of practitioners you can find here.

What are the real benefits of participating in MMIA?

Our course participants have repeatedly shared how their confidence in applying their work has improved along with the results that their clients have achieved. MMIA has expanded their existing skill set. In many cases this has improved their business, increased the number of 1-2-1 clients or the popularity of their classes. These results are not guaranteed for everyone as all situations are unique, however they are typical comments from the yoga and Pilates teachers we work with.

Will MMIA change my Pilates / Yoga Teaching?

It may refine your experience and also change the way you apply it, for the highest good of those with whom you work. The course does not set out to challenge the movements, postures, repertoires or sequences of any other programme. It is designed to assist you in discerning the best way to apply them for those whom you teach. It will enhance your ability to naturally modify and benefit the people you train.

Why do I need to change the Pilates and Yoga I teach?

Yoga and Pilates are valuable assets to have as a movement teacher. This is not challenged by MMIA. Enhancing the brilliance with which you, as a teacher of either, apply the protocols you have learned to any individuals is where MMIA focuses. It provides you with micro-movements and transitions that you can use within your classes and sessions to enhance people’s experience and the value they get from the Yoga and / or Pilates you teach.

How is this course different from existing pre/rehabilitation programs already on the market?

To the extent that we can answer this question, in our experience, many courses are focussed on a new or alternative way to move – or a modality that may offer different methods. MMIA seeks to enhance whatever the methods you are already trained in. It empowers you to empower your clients by enhancing the fundamentals of balance, co-ordination, resilience, vitality and the benefits of the 5R’s to their natural regulation. To use a metaphor of being a chef; rather than teaching you to “cook a different dish” or learn another “type of cuisine” – we provide you with a range of herbs and spices and seasonings to support what you already do and give each of your clients’ the flavour that nourishes them most with delicious movements, for their optimum benefit.

Does this approach address injuries?

This approach does not replace any medical guidance or seek to offer cures or curative methods or claim to heal or resolve injuries. It is designed to support qualified movement and manual practitioners with micro-movements and sequences that they judge, within their scope of practice to be valuable to their clients at the time, given their injuries. The programme is focussed on providing a teacher, instructor or practitioner with a variety of additional tools to add to their existing skillset, with the strong encouragement to try them out for themselves first and teach from experience within their scope of practice. The programme is offered to give practitioners additional practices that are designed to support and encourage vitality and well-being and can often be used as part of a rehabilitation programme, that the practitioner has the authority to prescribe within their scope of practice. However, MMIA is not a qualification in and of itself and is included at the discretion of the practitioner.

How will I integrate MMIA into my current repertoire and teaching style?

The MMIA programme is focused on being in action. It is made up of six sets of videos, one based on the theory of myofascial magic and five based on active practices offered to the movement teacher to enhance their existing repertoire. Each of the five sets, contains several movement protocols to support and enhance a Yoga or Pilates repertoire. The group calls are facilitated throughout the course to further assist participants in integrating the training.

I’m an experienced instructor, how can MMIA help me, why is it so important?

Designed and demonstrated by experienced instructors, MMIA restores the fundamental principles of elastic recoil and resilience to the tissues, to enhance existing programmes with a deeper understanding of applied fascia research, in action. Many repertoires focus on strength or stretch and can override the innate properties of the fascia matrix, now that it is known to be the largest sensory organ of the body. The science behind 21st Century anatomy has changed the information behind how Yoga and Pilates are traditionally taught in the West and this course gives experienced teachers the opportunity to expand and confirm the difference they can make with their experience.

I’m a new instructor, can I benefit from this course or will it overwhelm me?

MMIA is clearly explained and offered as an enhancement of the protocols you are trained in. The methods are clearly explained and designed to deepen any existing practice by meeting the practitioner where they are. It also encourages the practitioner to have the confidence to meet their clients where they are and avoid the issues that can arise from simply applying postures learned. We have worked with instructors at every level, around the world and found that new instructors emerge – with their first level training – with confidence and are encouraged by the MMIA toolbox.

Is MMIA suitable for everyone?

The keystone of the MMIA course is that it is part of the modifications and links between the postures and repertoires of standardised teaching protocols. As such it is designed for each instructor to use with their clients and assess their ability by meeting them where they are. The simple exercises and integrated practices keep them naturally modified to suit everyone, enhancing the most basic skills of balance and co-ordination to support vitality and resilience for everyone, whatever their age and stage of fitness. The practices are designed to be modified to the individual, so that everyone can enjoy them to their own best ability.

What’s the difference between Pilates & Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient practice from Ayurvedic Wisdom that has over 40 aspects within its Eastern teachings, developed over thousands of years. Within Ayurveda, Yoga is one aspect with “8 limbs”. These limbs represent different ways, within which one particular way honours and encourages a physical movement practice. Many different interpretations of these physical practices have developed over the years, so modern Western Culture enjoys a wide variety of different expressions and interpretations of this particular limb. Pilates was designed by Joseph Pilates, during the late 20th Century in the West, originally to rehabilitate ballet dancers and boxers. It has also been developed and interpreted by different teachers, from so-called “classical to contemporary” versions of the repertoires and sequences. It falls into two main categories of “Mat Work” and “Machine Work”. Both Yoga and Pilates, in the West, tend to follow the biomechanical basis of 20th Century anatomical knowledge, that did not necessarily incorporate the shifts and possibilities of working with the latest scientific research into the fascia matrix and myofascial continuity that now informs the leading edge of movement science.

Can men do MMIA or is it aimed at women?

MMIA is for men and women. The course tutors (a man and a woman) have taught both and seen everyone experience results in all fields, from elite athletics to movement to music and Yoga and Pilates for the elderly and the young and fit.

The practices offer modifications and encourage self-regulation throughout. What about pregnancy, or other special populations?

MMIA is undertaken at the discretion of the participant and is not designed to offer or replace any medical advice or guidance from your own therapist or practitioner. The practices offer modifications and encourage self-regulation throughout. They are designed for practitioners, to use within their scope of practice supporting variations in ability and encouraging a gentle approach to introducing any of the movements. A teacher of Yoga for Pregnancy, or Pilates for Pregnancy, would have the qualifications to work with pregnant individuals and choose appropriately from the MMIA movements to support their clients’ stage and situation.

Yes. We encourage you to incorporate the movements you learn into your own personal practice from the outset. We have found that if participants do this straight away, they can readily become familiar with them and discover how quickly the MMIA principles become 2nd nature. That naturally facilitates incorporating the tools into the classes and sessions they do with their clients.

How do I know this works in the classroom?

We have tried and tested MMIA around the world with a variety of people of various standards, teaching Pilates, Yoga, Dance, Personal Training and other branded movement protocols. Once they discover the natural resource MMIA provides them with, they add it to the movements they already teach and enhance the experience of their clients and students.
