If you always thought your body is different, you're right. It is.

Anatomy Science shows that every single body is unique. Even identical twins. Experience confirms that your face is different to everyone else’s. You are the only one that looks like you on the outside. Believe it or not,  you are also the only one that looks like you on the inside. You are the only one that moves like you.

THE PROBLEM

Repeating only standard poses and repertoires isn’t working

Injuries and insults from twisting suddenly, bending down to pick something up, lifting up a child and other chronic pain issues are still taking up a huge percentage of lost working hours. Musculoskeletal Issues caused 7.2 million lost working hours, last year, in the USA alone. Current approaches to address them include pain killers for the symptoms and even surgeries – for the condition. Even movement programs address the “issue” rather than the tissue that it is unique to each one of us. The repertoires and lists of exercise treat us all the same, when in real life our bodies are all very different. The focus is on the movements rather than the mover.

OUR FINDINGS

Your body is unique, so is the movement you need.

Our team’s experience has shown that there is a completely different requirement for the movement of every body – depending on age, environment, stage of fitness, personal lifestyle, goals and support. We focus on empowering each client to optimise their unique profile.

When we, as qualified movement instructors, take MMIA into account we include key micro-doses of micro-movements. Any repertoire or postures or exercise programme becomes client-centric which promotes their unique optimum benefits.

They move better. They stay better. You work better. So do they.

Start your journey now!

OUR UNIQUE APPROACH

We take a holistic approach to understand how your body moves

We work at the leading edge of fascia science to help others understand how the body can move to reduce chronic pain and improve resilience! We focus on “pain removed performance improved”. Naturally with only a few minutes a day.

Based on leading edge science into fascia research, we provide “micro-movement medicine” and teach trainers how to work with dose and degree. They transform the value of their training so their clients transform with person-centric, rather than posture-centric benefits.

FREE ENERGY

Insults and injuries can be caused by how we move and how we train

Overtraining is a thing! When you train intensively without the right counterbalance of rest and micro-movement you can set your body into habitual patterns that deepen postural disorganisation. They can drain and disorganise metabolism.

This can set the body up to be brilliant at doing what it is training to do – and less able to adapt or respond well to unexpected movements or difficulties. When we add repetitive exercises into the mix, this can endorse pre-existing inappropriate patterns. An unusual move, or a simple twist can trigger a cascade of strain patterns and difficulties from muscle spasms to disc injuries.

Without micro-movement preparation, standard exercises can re-enforce chronic postural set and evoke inflammation and sedentary behaviour. This in turn degenerates metabolism. When the right micromovements and resting times are incorporated, we animate “free metabolic energy” by activating natural rebound and recoil. The body naturally restores “energy storage capacity” and with appropriate guidance from a trainer, they can enhance the ability to do and sustain any movement modality as the trainer can adapt it to their unique requirement and benefit. Then the practice provides a profound and free resource, helping the client move better beyond the classroom – and adapt, strain free, more easily.

THE FASCIA FEEDBACK SYSTEM

Your fascia plays a key role in your health, from movement to metabolism

Each of us has a unique fascia feedback system, deep to our own body architecture. We self-organised as embryos out of one continuous fabric that is now known to be the largest sensory organ of the body. It gives us our sense of proprioception, our “gut reaction” – sometimes called the “sixth sense”.

Our unique responses are very subtle and finely tuned. As such there is huge advantage to including subtle fine-tuning movements to any existing movement training. This trains our naturally “listening” tissues to respond in ways that are optimal to our well-being and our ability to relax. This in turn improves our mood and can lower anxiety and serve physical and mental health by promoting inner awareness.

AI vs BI – ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE VS BIOMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Ever wondered why movement is called biomechanics when your body is not mechanical?

Artificial Intelligence is inspiring us all into virtual worlds, rapid responses and sometimes even more sedentary pursuits at our desks or armchairs. We can learn and produce more rapidly – however – our bodies still need to move in REAL TIME.

Fascia is your Tissue of Temporality – it takes time and it manages timing of your responses and it honours time, in cycles and processes over time.

With MMIA you’ll learn how to improve how your clients take time to do what they do and slow it down in terms of ageing more gracefully and having more fun, because they can move better for longer!

We call this Biomotional Intelligence – and it is where the Being and the Body come together and intuit in real time. That gives us the grounding to manage Virtual Time as we navigate the future of super-speed in information highways, without doing so to the detriment of our internal highways.

OUR RESEARCH

At the frontier of Fascia Science, Spiritual Science and Practical Application

We are dedicated to understanding the benefits of working from a client-centric approach and empowering our clients to understand their own tissue organisation and bring as much autonomy as possible to their own well-being. Created and updated with the latest scientific research by leading experts in the field of fascia, the team know that “one-size-fits-all” and “one-way-fits-all” programmes have both value and limitation. We look to training the trainers in refined details to enhance their own client-centric approach and improve their clients’ ability both in and out of the classroom.

In our team we have 3 doctors, one in chiropractic, one in anatomy philosophy and science and one in spiritual science. There is a Clinical Anatomist, Exercise Physiologist, three NeuroMuscular Therapist teacher/practitioners, a Structural Integration (aka Rolfing) teacher/practitioner, 3 yoga teachers/therapists, 2 Pilates Instructor trainers, Structural Integration Practitioner, a dancer and two Olympic coach / medical team members and two advanced lifelong martial artists. We all have private practices that require daily hands-on experience with the full spectrum of patients, clients and students, at all ages and stages of fitness. Our team works along the full spectrum of health to human performance. From inside the Yoga, Pilates or Dance Studio to outside at the Olympics, and with senior to junior weekend warriors and young athletes, we train all levels, with a clear intention to restore and sustain pain free motion and improve balance, natural recoil and long term resilience for all. REVEALING THE SECRET CODE…magical ingredient that is often missed or messed up!!

CLINICAL ADVISORY BOARD

Meet the people behind our ground-breaking work

Rev Dr Joanne Avison

Doctor of Spiritual Science, Reverend, Yoga Teacher Trainer, Yoga Therapist, Structural Integration Teacher/Practitioner, Author

Joanne is originally from London, where her Yoga Teacher Training school (Art of Contemporary Yoga Ltd) taught yoga teachers to 500 hour level. Joanne is also a Yoga Therapist and teacher of Structural Integration, which she studied for many years with Tom Myers, becoming one of the first Anatomy Trains teachers in the world. Joanne went on to work closely with John Sharkey, Clinical Anatomist, Director of NTC, Dublin studying the human body directly. Commissioned to write Yoga Fascia Anatomy and Movement, in 2014, the first book is now in its 2nd edition. The invitation to write Myofascial Magic in Action, came from the 5-star reviews of the first book. Myofascial Magic provides an integrated practice for all different schools of movement teachers, making sense fascia-focused integrity in human motion.

Fascinated by 21st Century Anatomy and Fascia, Joanne dedicated herself to learning how it shows up in individuals and how human movement patterns correlate with each person’s unique expressions. From 2002, studying at the CMED Institute, with Caroline Myss, in person, Joanne became a Sacred Contracts practitioner, researching archetypal patterns of the human psyche. Reuniting the “soma and the soul” through movement and inner awareness, became her promise.

Now a Reverend and a Doctor, in Spiritual Science, Joanne is dedicated to empowering others to recognise Myofascial Magic in body and being. Her focus is on revealing the Wisdom Body in each of us and invoking our unique Biomotional Intelligence as an inner wisdom we all have.

Joanne’s expertise in movement and manual therapy is always focussed on empowering the client or practitioner. Whatever they teach – and whomever they train – her focus is on a “person-centric” rather than “posture-centric” approach to movement. Joanne invites teachers to find their own voice – honouring their story as the source of their own genius and confidence – in motion.
